Basic Roulette Bets

In roulette game there are many various bets that differ according to the place on the table, winning odds and payouts. The roulette player can bet on a single number, several numbers and choose among the bets on odd/even or red/black numbers. Below you can learn about all bets available at roulette.

All European roulette bets fall into two main groups: inside and outside bets.

INSIDE BETS - the bets that are placed inside the roulette number grid.

  1. STRAIGHT BET - the bet on one single number. In fact, this bet means that the player tries to guess the next number coming up. The odds of this number to come up are very low but the payout on Straight bet is the highest, 35 to 1.
  2. TWO NUMBER BET (or SPLIT) - the bet on two neighboring numbers. This bet is made by placing the chips on the line between two neighboring numbers. In case any of two numbers wins the players is paid out 17 to 1.
  3. THREE NUMBER BET (or STREET) - the bet on three neighboring numbers. This bet pays out 11 to 1.
  4. FOUR NUMBER BET (or SQUARE) - the bet on any of four neighboring numbers. This bet is made by placing chips at the intersection of borders of four numbers. The payout on Four number bet is 8 to 1.
  5. FIVE NUMBER BET - the bet on five certain numbers which are 0, 00, 1, 2, 3. This bet is available at American roulette only and it pays out 6 to 1.

OUTSIDE BETS - the bets that are placed outside the roulette number grid.

  1. RED BET - the bet on any of the red numbers. The payout on this bet is 1 to 1.
  2. BLACK BET - the bet on any of the black numbers. If the black number comes up the player is paid out 1 to 1.
  3. ODD or EVEN BET - the bet on odd or even number to come up. The payout is 1 to 1.
  4. HIGH or LOW BET - the bet on the group of numbers. LOW bet means that the player bets on any of the numbers from 1 to 18 and HIGH bet is placed by placing chips on any of the numbers from 19 to 36. In both cases, whether it is HIGH or LOW bet, the winner is paid out 1 to 1.
  5. DOZEN BET - the bet on any of three groups of numbers: 1-12, 13-24 or 25-36. The payout on this bet is 2 to 1.
  6. COLUMN BET - the bet on any of three columns of numbers at the roulette table. The player can bet on top, middle and bottom columns. The bet pays out 2 to 1.
