The Roulette Rules

Roulette is the most recognizable game around the world and it is fairly considered to be the symbol of all casinos and gambling in general. The game came from France and from French the word “roulette” means the “small wheel”. In brief, the object of the game is to guess on what number on the wheel the ball will land. According to the roulette rules the players make bets by placing chips on the specific number, range of numbers or color. Then the croupier (dealer at roulette) spins the wheel in a clockwise direction and lets the ball spin in another direction. The ball spins around the wheel track and when the roulette wheel slows down it bounces over the small hurdles. Al last the ball lands at one of 37 (or 38 at American roulette) pockets on the wheel which determines the winner.

The pockets on the roulette wheel are numbered from 1 to 36. The half of them is marked in red and another half is marked in black. In addition, an extra 0 (zero) pocket is used in European roulette while American roulette features 0 and 00 (double zero) that are marked in green. All the numbers on the roulette wheel are arranged in such order:

European wheel: 0-32-15-19-4-21-2-25-17-34-6-27-13-36-11-30-8-23-10-
5-24-16-33-1-20-14-31-9-22-18-29-7-28-12-35-3-26

American wheel: 0-28-9-26-30-11-7-20-32-17-5-22-34-15-3-24-36-13-1-
00-27-10-25-29-12-8-19-31-18-6-21-33-16-4-23-35-14-2

The roulette wheel also contains a special betting area known as the “layout”. The table layout is a grid which consists of the betting zones numbered from 1 to 36 plus single zero and double zero (only on American roulette). Moreover, American roulette is always at the end of the table while European roulette is in the centre of the table.
